         Facial paralysis is a form of disability which gives a strong impact on a person. Paralysis of the facial nerve can be caused by congenital birth (congenital), neoplasm, trauma, infections, exposure to toxic or iatrogenic causes. The most frequent cause of unilateral facial paralysis is Bell's palsy. Bell's palsy was found by a British physician named Charles Bell.
       

What is Bell's palsy?      
        Bell's palsy is a paralysis of the facial nerve peripheral (N.VII), occur in acute and the cause is unknown (idiopathic) or without accompanying other diseases that can lead to facial nerve lesion or peripheral facial paralysis caused by the non-suppurative, non-neoplasmatic, non- Primary degenerative however very likely caused by benign edema on the facial nerve in the stylomastoid foramen  or slightly proximal to the foramen, which initially acute and can heal itself without treatment.

         This disease can strike at any age, but is more common in the age of 20-50 years. Opportunities for the bell's palsy in males together with women. In the third trimester of pregnancy and 2 weeks postpartum onset of Bell's palsy likely higher than in non-pregnant women, and even can reach 10 times

       The experts say that the bell's palsy acute inflammatory process of the facial nerve in the temporal bone, the stylomastoid foramen around. Bell's palsy is almost always unilateral. However, within a week or so bilateral paralysis may occur. The disease is recurrent or relapsed.

        Peripheral facial paralysis can occur in certain diseases, such as diabetes mellitus, severe hypertension, local anesthetic extractions, middle ear infections, Guillain Barre syndrome. If the apparent causes of the so-called peripheral facial paralysis, and not the bell's palsy.

How can patients know that they get Bell's Palsy?
      Usually the patient knows, facial paralysis from friends or family or at the mirror and toothbrush / rinse.      Problems caused Bell's palsy are quite complex, including functional problems, cosmetic and psychological professions that can harm the patient assignment. So that the necessary treatment quickly and accurately to achieve the best recovery of facial nerve function and the patient can return to activities of daily work and socialize with people.
