4 If there is a rise in intracranial can be done:
i. Patient's head is elevated ± 300
ii. Limit fluid administration
iii. Do hyperventilation until PCO2 to 25 mmHg
iv. Medicine:
- Mannitol -> given intravenously at a dose of 1.5-2.0 g / kg over 30-60 minutes, repeated every 8-12 jam. Gliserol, through a nasogastric tube, 0.5-1.0 ml / kg diluted with two parts orange juice, may be repeated every 6 hours for a long time
- Dexamethasone 2 -> 0.15 to 1.0 mg / kg / day in 3 divided doses iv.
5 When seizures, can be given:
i. Phenytoin
ii. Phenobarbital 5-8 mg / kg / 24 hours. If seizures occur frequently, should be given Diazepam (0.1-0.2 mg / kg) IV, in the form of infusion for 3 minutes.
6 Fixing homeostasis: intravenous fluids D5 - 1/2 or D5 S - 1/4 S (depending on age) and oxygen administration.
